25 Feb 2010I’m taking part in this years Mongol rally so have a tough 10,000 miles ahead. A rusted fuel tank has been blocking the jets in the carb. Is there an easy solution for cleaning this or is it a case of needing to remove the carb easy time and blast it with air? Anyone know how many fuel jest there are to clean?
Also i just brought another engine (as we blew the last!) and the guy threw in an LJ inlet and carb. It’s configured slightly different but is there any major reason that i couldn’t use it on the sj? The LJ was a 335cc (or close to) and the sj is a 997cc.

put a filter on the carb feed so no more stuff gets through
you then need to get the carb sent off to be cleanes and any worn jets feplased
dont ever put copressed air down a carb or jets you can make more work later on.
