13 Dec 2009what maybe the usual/common reasons, for fuel injectors get in damage?
(the fuel tank is full) here is the problem, there’s a time my car jerks while running, seems like unadequate supply of gasoline, theres a time when i press the gas pedal you will instinctively notice that the supply of gasoline is not enough,(i dont know if this is the problem).
but in simply shaking the fuel filter it will run again smoothly, (i thought the problem is the fuel filter, but i’d test 3 brand new fuel filters and the same problem still occurs). do you think it is the fuel injectors or the ECU? my car is quite old, nissan sentra 92-94 model.

Check your spark plugs and plug wires.
It sounds crazy but i have had the same thing happen.

Buddy The only cure for this problem is to have a complete fuel system servicing,as I have said on the stories earlier on fuel injection systems they are all nice but when the electronics start going bad you are STUCKwith the problem, does anyone ever pay attention to their maintenance charts for their cars these days, check your owners manuals for all the info on fuel systems and that solves many fuel questions on your cars peoples why do cars have owners manuals? READ READ READ MY MAN AND LADY the manual in front of you on your car. Whew I’m tired now from all of this

Someone should place a pressure gauge on the fuel line.It may be a problem with low pressure caused by a clogged screen in the tank or a weak pump. The gas may also be contaminated with water.

There is a screen on the pickup tube in your gas tank that is prone to clog up partially or completely which will cause this problem. Gas has to pass through this screen before hitting the actual fuel filter. Then from there through the lines and onto the injectors where it is sent into the cylinders basically. The screen doesn’t catch everything and that’s why you need a fuel filter. The fuel filter doesn’t always get everything either so then the injectors catch it and either pass it into the cylinder where it will be burned and discarded by the engine through the exhaust or if it is large enough particles the injectors will catch them and eventually keep catching debris until it stops working. Hope this helps

<>Injectors can get clogged from dirt and crap in the fuel. However, you said that “shaking the fuel filter” solved the problem, but changing the fuel filter did not. It sounds more like you have a problem in the fuel lines (a rust blockage or something similar). I would suggest dropping the fuel tank and blowing out the fuel line (or, if it is really corroded, changing the fuel line). While you have the tank out, clean it out thoroughly (and consider replacing the fuel pump if you don’t know how old it is).

Try pulling the injectors to see if they are clogged. Run some fuel injector cleaner through the system and see if it helps.
They may also need adjusting.

A few months ago, after my buddy pulled his Porsche out of his garage, we took it on a test drive. He hadn’t gotten it tuned up for about 3/4 of a year, and about 20 minutes into the ride on the freeway we felt it start jerking, we knew something was up and as we got off of the freeway it just got worse. Eventually we put, put putted it back to his house and he called a mechanic over. I know that his problem was his fuel injector got knocked loose, or was out of place or something of the sort and after that it rode smooth as ever.
I’m no mechanic, but thought I would throw my $.02 in =)

HAVE FUEL PRESSURE CHECKED SEE IF ITS CORRECT,CHECK ALL FUEL LINES FOR CRACKS IN ON AND AROUND TANK AND CONNECTIONBS TO ENGINE (RUBBER AND METAL).IF OK THEN RUN SOME FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER THROUGH TANK USE (SEA FOAM) LOCAL PARTS STORE (ADVANCE) ALSO MAYBE THE TANK IS FUEL OF WATER OR RUST , TAKE FUEL FILTER OFF AND TAP ON INLET END AND SEE IF A BROWN LIKE SUBSTANCE COMES OUT OR WATER OR MAYBE JUST A BAD PLUG WIRE BREAKING DOWN UNDER A LOAD,BAD PLUG,DIST CAP,ROTOR JUST DO COMPLETE TUNE UP GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELPS
